By rooting solutions in community consensus, the project seeks not only to elevate public health standards but also to strengthen the legal framework that underpins them.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">This initiative forms a critical component of the five-year Sexual Health and Reproductive Education (SHARE) project, funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by a consortium led by Right to Play with support from WaterAid Ghana, FAWE-Ghana, and FHI360. <\/span><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">SHARE aims to advance gender equality and adolescent well-being by delivering age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health education, alongside interventions that address the environmental determinants of health. <\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">By integrating WASH improvements with sexual health programming, SHARE acknowledges the interdependence of clean water access, sanitation infrastructure, and the protection of young people\u2014particularly girls\u2014from preventable health risks and social vulnerabilities.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">A consultative workshop held in Bolgatanga brought together traditional chiefs, assembly members, youth advocates, women\u2019s groups, and opinion leaders to harmonise the proposed community bylaws with existing District Assembly regulations. She explained <\/span><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">that harmonised bylaws would close gaps \u201cnot necessarily covered in law\u201d and would compel key stakeholders\u2014especially parents\u2014to assume responsibility for adolescents\u2019 upbringing and well-being. <\/span><\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">Ms Abdulai further emphasised that <\/span><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">the project will \u201cgo further to<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38ef6ff e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"38ef6ff\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ef66cac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ef66cac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #5d6273;\"><i><span style=\"color: #5d6273; font-family: Montserrat;\">support them to ensure these bylaws are gazetted to make them more binding,\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><span style=\"color: #5d6273; font-family: Montserrat;\">\u00a0thereby transforming community resolutions into enforceable regulations that carry the weight of statutory law.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #5d6273; font-family: Montserrat;\">Ensuring the bylaws reflect inclusive decision-making, the initiative engaged representatives from every segment of the local population.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #5d6273; font-family: Montserrat;\">Traditional leaders lent their authority to ratify norms, youth delegates voiced the concerns of their peers, and local government officials provided technical guidance on alignment with district policies. This participatory approach not only bolsters community ownership but also fosters transparency, guaranteeing that bylaws on sanitation block maintenance, water source protection, and adolescent care are responsive to the needs of all, irrespective of gender or age.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">The Upper East Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr Jaladeen Abdulai, <\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">reiterated<\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun: 'yes'; font-family: Montserrat; mso-fareast-font-family: SimSun; font-size: 10,0000pt; mso-font-kerning: 0,0000pt;\">\u00a0the necessity of attaching clear sanctions to each bylaw clause.
