The Ministry of Health has announced an extension to the submission deadline for proposals to supply and install dialysis machines in selected hospitals across Ghana. expand dialysis care nationwide and improve access for patients living with kidney disease.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/p>

In a notice issued on Monday, September 8, the Ministry confirmed that the closing date for submissions has been moved from the original deadline to\u00a0<\/span>Tuesday, September 16, 2025. \u201cPlease take note that the closing date has been extended to Tuesday, 16th September, 2025,\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span>\u00a0the statement read in part. The Ministry explained that\u00a0<\/span>interested firms are required to present detailed technical specifications of the machines they intend to supply, demonstrate prior experience in delivering similar equipment, outline after-sales service plans, and provide a comprehensive cost breakdown that includes consumables.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>

The extension comes at a time when Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to significantly increasing the availability of dialysis services. Speaking in an interview with Accra-based 3FM on August 4, the Minister revealed that <\/span>more than 1,000 dialysis machines will soon be distributed across the country.<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0He indicated that the nationwide installation process is expected to begin within the next three months, a move aimed at easing the financial and logistical burden faced by kidney patients who often have to travel long distances or pay high fees for treatment.<\/span><\/p>

The procurement process is seen as a critical step in addressing the growing demand for dialysis in Ghana,<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0where the prevalence of chronic kidney disease has been rising. Many public hospitals currently operate with limited dialysis capacity, leading to long waiting times and, in some cases, the inability to accommodate all patients in need. With the new September 16 deadline, suppliers have <\/span>had <\/span>additional time to prepare competitive and comprehensive proposals.
